||Size invariance: Reply to Schwartz.
Answers the comments of E. L. Schwartz (see record 1982-25220-001) on the author's paper (see record 1979-22726-001) dealing with size and position invariance in the visual system. Arguments are presented to show that the retinotopic mapping of the entire striate surface, proposed by Schwartz as the basis for size invariance, does not possess functional size invariance. Spatial inhomogeneity, phase coding, transform integration, and overall processing architecture are discussed as relevant to the author's log polar frequency proposal.
