Illusory motion from shadows

Used computer graphics animation consisting of a checkerboard with a central square in front of it, and a shadow moving towards and away from the square to show that shadows can have a strong influence on the perceived 3-D motion of objects. For the 15 observers, the movement of the square's shadow induced apparent motion in depth of the square, even when the image of the square itself was stationary.
